Why choose kitesurfing coaching?
Since I started traveling and living from my passion, I had the chance to meet many kitesurfers with an absolutely incredible diversity of profiles.
I met GKA competitors, but also retirees, dehooker enthusiasts, surfers, strong wind hunters, others who dream of the lagoon, seasoned practitioners and neophytes...
I like to think that the best kitesurfer in the spot is the one who has the most fun on the water.
The level of each other does not ultimately have much to do with it!
Kitesurfing is for me a perpetual learning, an eternal and vast playground where the goal is to progress and learn a little more every day.
Unfortunately, I see too many people confined to "mowing the lawn", with a sequence of identical edges over and over again...
Over the months, I simply realize that it is often when the progress slows down that the flame can go out...
I now see several reasons for this:
- First, the lack of self-confidence and the comfort zone: convincing yourself that you are incapable of doing something you have never tried! It's incredible how many practitioners stagnate in their practice just out of ease and habit.
- Also, the lack of training: the majority of kitesurfers take lessons to become autonomous, but unfortunately very few continue to take lessons to progress!
Advanced courses are an ideal solution for me:
During class, students are more easily out of their comfort zone. With clear objectives, theoretical understanding of the maneuver and scalable exercises, the dynamic changes completely. With each try, you get feedback on the positives and areas for improvement, as well as motivation to continue. Over the session(s), you become able to understand what you need to correct to achieve your goals and your progress continues after the class, even when the teacher is no longer there.
It is also possible to use the video post-session to dissect, see the progress, and highlight the faults to be erased.
The coaching weeks combine refresher courses and video, adding atmosphere and group cohesion. The group pushes to surpass itself, gives motivation and the exchanges/debriefing become even more interesting by confronting the points of view.
For all these reasons, I encourage you, whatever your level, to take lessons to continue to progress: I sincerely believe that many kitesurfers should put more money in their training than in their equipment!
