Kite & Yoga
Kitesurfing and yoga, complementary activities
First of all, kitesurfing and yoga are often seen as opposing practices, responding to different philosophies.
Indeed, the objective of the practice of yoga, unlike that of a sport, does not aim to exceed its limits and improve its performance. However, if kitesurfing and yoga do not necessarily attract the same audiences, they complement each other perfectly.
Athletes would even have everything to gain from practicing yoga regularly.
Kitesurfing is a physically demanding sport. The back is very stressed as well as the joints and the muscles. Falls can be violent and traumatic and if you want to avoid injuries, you have to take care of your body and prepare it for our navigation sessions, whether freestyle, waves, but also simply for “_cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_mowing the lawn ”.
Yoga focuses on aligning the body, strengthening and relaxing the back. Regular practice helps to release tension in the upper back, strengthen the thoraco-lumbar area and the abdominal strap.
Balancing postures improve your proprioception. So your brain can adjust your position and your body movements in space which is essential for freestyle tricks or for your aggressive jibs in the waves. As a result, more precise movements are made while minimizing risks.
Yoga also helps to relax and strengthen your muscles and joints. The postures will help release muscle tension and restore flexibility and elasticity to your muscles. By stretching these muscles, your joints will be able to maintain their flexibility and will be strengthened and more inclined to withstand shocks.
Holding the pose for a while will increase muscle endurance. Deep muscles will be strengthened, the very ones that provide stability and resistance.
After a few days of kiting, we feel the aches, inflammations, fatigue, in our body. To avoid this observation, I advise you to practice a yoga session after your kite session. Yoga will have a decisive impact on your body's ability to recover between each session and thus be able to continue a Kite Camp without ending up on your kneecaps and without aches.
